Urban Farm

Mohammad Saleh
January - June 2019

For his Dar Jacir residency, Mohammad Saleh will be planting the seed of the first Urban Farm in Palestine, a case study that aims to address the concerns of the farmers we provide training to, as well as create a model of a financially viable farming operation which is free of harmful synthetic chemicals on a small piece of land in the middle of the city. His workshop addresses the implementation of the project, setup of the farm, and maintenance.  The workshop participants are from Alrowwad for Culture and Arts in Aida Refugee camp.

After an introduction introducing the plan and context behind it, the children moved to work in the land with tasks like marking the beds, digging the ground, mixing compost, stretching irrigation, planting, harvesting, weeding, mulching.

Supported by the A.M. Qattan Foundation through the ‘Visual Arts: A Flourishing Field’ Project.
