Il Mare in Mezzo Suoni e canti dal Mediterraneo
“Il Mare in Mezzo” from Sunday September 10th at 7 PM at Dar Jacir in Bethlehem. This event comes out of more than 5 years of building, collaborating, exchanging and cultivating a large network of dancers and musicians between the Southern West Bank and the South of Italy – insisting on our shared Mediterranean heritage. This program which has been organized and led by Emily Jacir has resulted in a variety of outputs including spaces for making, learning and exchanging, and other community-building processes such as workshops, performances, music, singing and dancing.
On Sunday we presented choreographer Andrea De Siena who has collaborated with Emily on this project since 2019. We welcomed back singer and musician Fabrizio Piepoli, and we introduced the dancer Giulia Pesole to Bethlehem for the first time. We are excited to collaborate with special guests Amwaj Choir.
There were many other surprise guest participants from Bethlehem. The event is free and open to the public, all are welcome!
This concert is supported by The Consulate General of Italy in Jerusalem, OSUN Center for Human Rights and the Arts at Bard College, Amwaj Choir and Dar Jacir.
