Adam Broomberg (born 1970, South Africa) is an artist, activist and educator based in Berlin. He is on the faculty of the MA Photography & Society programme at The Royal Academy of Art (KABK), The Hague which he co-designed. His recent work Glitter in my Wounds (a collaboration with the radical poet CAConrad and model and transgender activist Gigi Spelsberg) was published by MACK books and recently exhibited at the Dusseldorf Photography Triennial.
He is co-founder, alongside Issa Amro of Artists.Allies.Hebron which recently launched their first project “Counter-Surveillance:H2” a live stream of surveillance cameras placed in various olive groves in Hebron. The images of the trees, many of which are over 1000 years old, allowed a global community to help safeguard them. Since 1967 over 1 million olive trees have been destroyed by settlers and Israeli Authorities. The project was broadcast live through www.artistsandallies.art as well as on the websites of European art institutions Foam (Netherlands), Bonniers Konsthall (Sweden), Nitja (Norway) and projected in the museum space at SI Fest (Italy).
Curated by Emily Jacir as part of the Inaugural Residency.
